We have achieved a lot at Evermix in the 19 months that I had been full time. In my humble opinion, the greatest of these was introducing UX research into our design workflow, making the user the centre of the experience. With this new user data we redesigned and rebuilt the Beta site from the ground up; we released a new and improved DJ app that saw an uptick of use from DJs and we set in motion a new suite of DJ administration tools to use in the browser. All this was done with an iterative attitude that we tried to keep feedback driven whilst keeping an eye on other, more commercially driven, business needs.
So it was with a heavy heart that I handed the board my notice just over a month ago. We had brought the startup from humble beginnings, to make it a go-to app for many DJs across the country and beyond. I look forward to seeing how Evermix progresses and builds on this legacy with a keen interest as a fan of music and as a fan of the brand from now on. As with any journey, it had sometimes been a challenging one, but rewarding regardless to see something grow and to be part of that.
On Tuesday, I will be joining the growing team at Co-op Digital, a team that I have watched keenly build itself into one of the most exciting digital departments in the country for the past 2 years.
Needless to say, I am itching to get started! The Co-operative is a company that is close to my heart and head (and stomach!) in many ways, and I feel privileged to be offered an opportunity to get involved with the awesome work they are doing there with some incredibly talented people.
I’m looking forward to new challenges that lay ahead in my career with the Co-op. And I’m excited to learn and improve as a designer as well helping grow a progressive team that share my goals for a better business and a better society with technology and design at it's heart. Roll on Tuesday!
