Week 10 and 11

Agency pitches and a future of remote working
March 13, 2020

๐ŸŽง found loads of tunes this week and it's a bumper playlist as I missed a week of weeknotes. A chiptune remix album of In Flames' I, The Mask was fun.

๐Ÿ“– started Simon Sinek's The Infinite Game. I hate the fact I like Sinek. I just find his words so accessible and energising urgh

๐ŸŽง more HCD podcasts this week. Specifically Scott Smith 'How to Future' and Lou Downe talking about 'Good services'.

๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿฝโ€โ™‚๏ธAgain, no exercise. Did my back in and my knee is wrecking. Paraphrasing my physio here but he said it's because I've not been doing anything that is making my pain worse.

๐Ÿง˜๐Ÿผโ€โ™‚๏ธ one morning of meditation. So. Many. Meetings. Week 11 was in full coronavirus anxiety and WFH. Usually I'm really productive at home on a Friday but struggled this week. Booked some holidays so feel less stressed.

๐Ÿ•ด sat in on 3 pitches from agencies in week 10. it's interesting being the other side of the fence (I used to work agency side). It's likely our problem, but it took a few emails asking question to get a clearer idea of their design capability. Agencies: please, question our brief, pick it apart, challenge us and for fucks sake show some pictures of the work in your case studies.

๐Ÿ—ฃ this week was the end of 3 weeks of epic, huge blocks of meetings. A lot of it around resourcing and how we work as an org. I'm glad these have finished tbh, I've felt very detached from the actual work.

๐Ÿก with the coronavirus outbreak I've kept myself at home 3 days of 10. Just as a test and to keep my cough away from people. I've always turned my nose up at remote working as I don't believe you can truly collaborate even with new fangled toys. I still think it's hard, but it's been fun to poke at it and see. It was great to do the Membership Friday Show and Tell remotely.

๐Ÿ”ฎ whatever I've thought previously though, there is no denying that the way we work is going to change forever after this.

๐Ÿš€๐Ÿ‘‰ goals next week:

  1. think about and visualise the customer journeys for Membership evo
  2. start talking to people about it and start aligning roadmaps
  3. start pulling a plan together for recruitment
