π§ Music. Proper mixed bag this week. Light indie pop, Jessy Lanza to hyperactive techno from Nathan Fake. Then darkness of worriedaboutsatan, haxan cloak to Bobby Krlics almost euphoric end score of midsommar.
π don't know where Why Are We Yelling is going. If we can't argue to persuade someone out of their point of view, because the only mind we can change is ours, we should just accept it? What if that POV is dangerous?
ππ½ again, only 1 gym session for loaded squats this week. Felt good after. No knee pain this week π€
π§πΌββοΈ one morning of meditation. Tough one this week, felt a step behind every day. Foggy head that might be a head cold. Late for almost every meeting and had to ask several times what people meant in chats. When I sat down to do actual design work I felt distracted.
ππ goals this week:
ππ goals next week:
βοΈ plenty of design chats this week which I love - obviously. Sam set up a shared components cross team meet up talking about styles and 'things' product teams can share. We agreed on some bits such as corner radius on cards and baselines. Sounds stupid, but they're inconsistent across different services and they're not in the design system yet, so it looks messy.
βοΈ design crits and research post it note sessions make me feel π₯° had two of those this week and they were most open, honest and constructive meetings I have all week. The team have moved really quick on a design and they're testing next week. I can't wait.
βοΈ I feel like a lot of my job is getting other designers to talk to each other.

πΊ In our all design community of practice we mapped journeys across different services. This was to start to get designers to think about services and journeys rather than products. Really fun session that threw open some good chats.
π had a good talk with Lucy about creating a manager voltron rather than looking for one mentor, that's not going to teach you everything you need. I like chats with Lucy. She makes me think a lot.
π¨βπ¨ bringing this one back for this week: sick to the back teeth with talking about design systems.
π£ had a show and tell about membership evolution work that expanded on last weeks all hands. It eased some nervousness about what we're doing and there were some good, engaging questions. I forget that some people don't have the context I do and sometimes it's good to get everyone in a room to show and tell them what's occurring over in another part of the business - get it out your head.
π§ββοΈstarted a new campaign for work D&D that I am DMing for. Had a few drop outs, but carried on with two again and had fun. Interestingly both Adam and Rob looked interested in joining in a cameo fashion. There's something I love about D&D being good at building teams and confidence. Jack Sheppard and I have thought and spoke about it a lot (usually drunk). There's something in it.
π hope you had a great weekend
